Abraham believed. Moses rescued a generation. Joshua defeated the enemy. Hannah bore a son. Nehemiah finished the wall. Daniel influenced friends & kings. Esther saved a nation. David faced a giant. Solomon built the temple. If you look closely at the stories of these ordinary women and men, you’ll realize that through their many trials and struggles they had a choice - a choice to believe. To believe that with God all things are possible. Sometimes God chooses adversity to build character in a leader’s life. Obstacles and challenges in this journey are just altar moments in our lives where God reveals His face to us.

He was waiting on the shores of Galilee to meet Jesus.

In Mark 5, we encounter another ordinary man named Jairus. Jairus was a well-to-do, wealthy, high-ranking elite official in society and a ruler of his synagogue but not today. Today he was a dad - fighting to save his only 12 year daughter – the apple of his eye – the love of his life. She was his joy and her very first smile had captured his heart forever. A few days ago, what started out with the symptoms of a small fever became a life-threating illness and the doctors had given her only a few days to live. There was no hope. Have you been there? The truth is that the story of “Jairus” is our very own story. Maybe God has given you a dream that you are holding on to, maybe it is a physical illness and the doctors have lost hope, maybe it is a relationship that is on the verge of falling apart or maybe you are in a crowded room full of people and still feel all alone. Jesus turned to Jairus, who finds out that his daughter had just passed away, before he could become undone and fall down on the ground, Jesus said, looking into his eyes, “Only Believe”. All hope is never lost because the Creator of the universe is standing beside you and saying “only believe”.
